The outdoor environment at Vildanden has during the past year undergone extensive renovation. According to the customers' wishes, there are now new barbecue areas, new bicycle parking spaces and a boule court.
Vildanden is one of AF Bostäder’s largest housing areas, popular, among other things, for its large green open spaces. The housing area, built in 1966, was designed by Bengt Edman and won awards for its architecture. Using AF Bostäder’s customer satisfaction surveys as a basis, the company has carried out a revamp of Vildanden’s outdoor environment. Based on the students’ wishes, Vildanden has a new bicycle shed with stonecrop roof and bicycle spaces marked with apartment numbers, more barbecue areas with outdoor furniture, new garden areas, better outdoor lighting and a boule court.
The area now also has a tidier, more practical recycling station – an Underground Waste System (UWS) – where tenants can sort glass, metal, cardboard, paper, residual waste and food waste. The waste containers are hidden underground and all that can be seen are neat, letterbox-like slots. Dull containers have been replaced by an airy and pleasant paved area, and it is always clean and tidy.
AF Bostäder will continue to develop it property portfolio in order to provide more student housing. Construction under our own management is the right way to go – it generates increased knowledge, better housing and city districts that are sustainable in the long term. AF Bostäder has an ambitious and balanced expansion goal. Going forward, there will be one new construction start per year
