Take care of yourself when you party
Alcohol has a big place in our culture and the way we socialise, not least in student life. Some students also come into contact with drugs, perhaps out of curiosity, at the gym or in other social contexts. Factors such as heredity, stress, life situation or mental health problems can affect how you use alcohol or drugs.
Signs of harmful use and addiction
- A strong craving for alcohol or other drugs
- Drinking more often than intended
- Tolerating more and needing larger quantities to get the same effect
- Finding it difficult to quit or drink less
- Using alcohol or drugs to avoid difficult emotions
- Prioritising alcohol and drugs over things that are important
- Deteriorating study results
- Mood swings
- Tiredness and diminished energy
When is it dangerous?
Alcohol, tobacco, narcotics and drugs are all toxic for the body, and in many cases addictive. It is always wise to avoid tobacco, narcotics and drugs. And there is no risk-free level of alcohol consumption. The dangers increase as the level of consumption rises, and the less you consume the better.
