Experience Rhodos – an extremely climate-friendly student housing area!

At Kämnärsrätten, AF Bostäder is implementing one of Sweden’s biggest investments in student housing. Here, a long-term sustainable city district is emerging, consisting of six innovative quarters along a connecting thoroughfare for pedestrians and cyclists with green spaces, activity areas, and places to socialise. Now we are building the fifth quarter Rhodos – a wonder in terms of sustainability and climate impact that will amaze students, bumblebees, and other friends of the climate.

About the new construction project

Rhodos will consist of one high-rise building, one large L-shaped building, and two intertwined buildings with balcony access, all of varying designs, heights, and sizes. The exteriors of the buildings will have natural colour tones with facades characterised by recurrent, triangular bay windows. The green courtyard will be pleasantly framed with plenty of places for enjoying the outdoors and socialising, and a secluded orangery that is tastefully integrated into the landscape.

In climate and sustainability terms, Rhodos is the result of AF Bostäder’s experience from investments and construction projects over the past ten years – and a model for all types of new production. It unites tasteful and well-planned architecture that works miracles for well-being and health, a verdant outdoor environment that promotes both surface water management and biodiversity, an orangery with a cultivation bed, which is heated by residual heat from the laundry room, and total energy consumption for the housing area that is as low as half of the requirements set for new construction, due, among other things, to a geo-energy plant and solar cells on the roof.

However, the biggest wonder at Rhodos is the exceptionally low climate impact linked to the new construction itself. Due to, among other things, climate calculations from the two previous projects, Hippocampus and Pireus, AF Bostäder has been able to optimise every detail of the project so that material selection, production methods, transport and construction will result in climate impact that is as low as possible. The climate target for the new construction will be below 200 kilo carbon dioxide equivalents per sqm (gross floor space)!

Accessibility and parking

At the Delphi housing area (west of Kämnärsrätten) there are two car parks along Delfinvägen both north and south of the gym facility, Actic Delphinenbadet. If you have a parking permit for Kämnärsrätten, this also applies for Delphi.

Disturbances

Groundwork and construction work will at times entail disturbances in the form of noise and limited accessibility for cars. Pedestrians and cyclists heading for buildings in the area may at times be directed to use another route via a nearby courtyard.

There will be heavy traffic on both Kämnärsvägen and Magistratsvägen.
